Accounting
All businesses must know whether they are making profit and whether they have enough assets to meet their liabilities. Producing annual accounts for this purpose, and for the Inland Revenue, bank, and any other interested parties, is the bread and butter of most firms of accountants. More and more clients are finding that a once-a-year look is not enough and in these cases we produce more frequent management accounts so that they can keep a closer eye on their performance and position. Even greater assistance can be provided with basic bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll (for both weekly and monthly paid employees).
Computers
Within our practice we have always been committed to making full use of available technology where appropriate. Our experience in all areas of computerisation, particularly but not exclusively in relation to computerised accounting systems, is always at the disposal of our clients.
Taxation
We constantly strive to ensure that our clients pay as little tax as possible. You may not always be aware of it but you can be sure that our staff are reviewing your tax affairs on an ongoing basis, looking for ways to minimise your tax bills. We will not encourage you to take steps to reduce tax if these are likely to adversely affect other aspects of your business. There is no sense in blowing £1,000 to save £400 in tax!
We want clients to have as much notice of future tax bills as practicable. The completion of accounts soon after the year end gives the most advance warning and is also useful in dealings with bank managers and others.
Audit
Tindell, Grant & Co are registered as auditors under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and are therefore fully equipped to handle any work of this type.
New/Expanding Businesses
We provide an all-round service for the business start-up. We will provide, and assist with completion of, all the forms necessary to register with the Inland Revenue, Contributions Agency and Customs & Excise (tax, NIC & VAT). We can also assist in the drafting of a simple partnership agreement or arrange the set up of a limited company. Take all this, and the preparation of business plans and assistance with obtaining suitable finance, and you have everything you need under one roof.
Business plans, budgets, and finance applications may also be necessary for existing businesses whose needs are changing, and we can offer extensive expertise in these areas.
Profit Studies/Health Checks
It is often a great help to a small business to have someone from the outside come in and spend a bit of time simply looking at the operation of the business to see whether there may be ways in which profits could be increased or liquidity improved. We run a successful business and have advised many others; our expertise is at your disposal.
Acquisitions/Disposals
Our staff have successfully advised many clients on business acquisitions and disposals including management buyouts. This is a complicated area and needs expert attention.
